Description
Macduff Estate sits in Lindula at around 1400 m, where microclimates shift constantly and the harvest runs through October to December. The landscape carries a long memory. About 150 years ago, coffee rust reshaped Sri Lanka’s coffee country and tea took over. Macduff followed that arc, until coffee was replanted in 2019 with Lakparakum (Sarchimor).
For this lot, cherries were selectively harvested at 20–21° Brix, then flotation and hand-sorted. Because Lindula’s slopes are rain-prone during harvest, the cherries were moved to warmer Kurunegala for controlled natural drying on concrete patios. The lot was turned regularly with active shade management and slow-dried to a final moisture of 11%. The goal was simple: keep the natural sweetness, keep the cup clean, keep the structure tight.
Cup profile (espresso): medium-to-full body with a dense, syrupy texture. Moderate, fruit-forward acidity led by ripe guava sweetness. Long cocoa finish with subtle raisin complexity and a soft jasmine lift.
Espresso performance: strong crema formation, balanced sweetness, and stable flavour expression as a straight shot and in milk-based drinks
